The autonomous growth loop

Traditional agency work is organised around discrete campaigns: brief, launch, run, report, repeat. The cadence matches human working hours and the rhythm of monthly reviews.

The seven-layer Command Centre

Inside the loop, the platform itself is organised as seven layers, each with a specific role. The layers are named for their function, not their underlying technology — the same architecture would be recognisable to anyone who has built marketing infrastructure at scale.

1. Signal layer

Inputs from everywhere the platform needs to see: ad platforms (Google Ads, Meta, LinkedIn, etc.), web analytics, CRM, conversion tracking, competitive signals, market data. The signal layer normalises and deduplicates these into a single stream the rest of the system can read.

2. Planning layer

Translates the configuration (commercial targets, channel envelope, audiences, offers) into a working media plan. Outputs a media plan, creative briefs and a measurement plan that the executions layer can ship.

3. Creative layer

Generates and tests creative variants — copy, imagery, ad formats, landing-page configurations — against the brand rules and policy guardrails set by the senior team. 4. Execution layer

5. Optimisation layer

6. Attribution layer

Closes the loop between spend and revenue. 7. Reporting layer

The client-facing surface. How policy guardrails work

Policy guardrails are explicit, machine-readable rules that bound what the platform is allowed to do. They sit in the configuration layer; the optimisation layer checks every action against them; out-of-bounds actions are blocked or escalated rather than executed.

A typical guardrail set looks like:

  • Budget bounds: minimum and maximum spend per channel, per day. The platform reallocates inside these; outside them, escalates.
  • Conversion targets: cost per primary action ceilings, blended ROAS floors, payback period thresholds. The platform optimises towards them; if the trajectory diverges, escalates.

  • Audience constraints: included segments, excluded segments, lookalike strategies the brand allows. The platform doesn't expand outside the agreed list without escalation.

    Creative layer ships a new landing-page variant for the high-converting Search keyword cluster. 50/50 split with the existing version; test will run for 7 days or 200 conversions, whichever comes first.

  5. Friday

    Client check-in

    Senior strategist updates the client on the LinkedIn audience-quality issue, the budget reallocation pattern, and the trajectory against month-end CAC target. Discussion: whether to raise the Google Search bound (currently at 60%) given how strongly it's performing. Decision deferred to Monday's strategy session.

Across that week, the platform made roughly 40 micro-decisions; humans made one strategic decision (deferred) and one approval (audience bound tightening). Does the platform make creative decisions?

What stops the platform doing something brand-damaging?
